ED & CEO
E-mail: bryn@rmtao.com

Bryn Sumpton is a Registered Nurse and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing Science from British Columbia Institute of Technology with a final preceptorship specialty in pediatrics at BC Children’s Hospital. His student nursing experience included preceptorships at many Vancouver area hospitals; including surgical nursing at Vancouver General Hospital and pediatric nursing at Royal Columbian Hospital. Previous to nursing, Bryn studied social anthropology, genetics, and biochemistry at York University and Trent University.
After graduating with honours, Bryn recently assisted in research relating to massage therapy, nursing, post-secondary education, and emergency preparedness for local colleges and other organizations.
Bryn recently returned to Toronto after living in Vancouver for the last 5 years. During his time in Vancouver, he worked as an English as a second language instructor and manager for a private English language college. There, he ran their school age program for foreign exchange students. Directly before returning to school for nursing, he worked as a management contractor to software developer Electronic Arts. At Electronic Arts, he specialized in hardware manufacturer policy compliance, software certification, and quality assurance.
Bryn is currently pursuing his certified association executive designation from the Canadian Society of Association Executives.
Bryn has always been passionate about issues relating to healthcare, the social determinants of health, health promotion, women’s rights, social justice, holistic care, and technology. He has been active in health committee work and recently helped to start a health education program for grade 4-6 students for the Langley School District in BC (in partnership with Langley Public Health).
Bryn’s relationship with massage therapy started at a young age when he was taken to massage school as in infant for baby massage classes. He has been a regular patient of massage therapy and friends with many massage therapists active in the profession here in Ontario and across Canada.
Bryn’s vision for the RMTAO includes prompt, responsive communication, the use of social media, strong advocacy for the profession, further development of continuing educational opportunities, support for massage therapy research, and increased interprofessional development with other healthcare providers.

Kelly Trottier, BA, PgCert PR
Communication & Member Services Planner
E-mail: kelly@rmtao.com
Kelly Trottier joined RMTAO this month as the Communication and Member Services Planner. As a graduate of the Humber College Graduate Certificate Public Relations program, Kelly has professional training and international experience as a communications professional in agency and non-profit environments.
Recently returning from an eight month international development placement as a Communications Officer in South Africa, Kelly is thrilled to begin her new journey at RMTAO.
While working with an impoverished community in Hillbrow, Johannesburg, Kelly witnessed first hand how lack of access to health services and education deprived an entire population of their livelihood, dignity and self-autonomy.
Acting as an agent of social change, Kelly developed holistic communication initiatives to help restore the dignity of this marginalized community. From launching a community wellness campaign for children to designing various educational tools for adults at social housing projects, Kelly strived to develop innovative and sustainable communications tactics that fostered community empowerment.
It is through this experience that Kelly fully realized the impact that effective communications has in not only improving human relationships, but revitalizing the overall health of a community.
As an activist at heart, Kelly embraces the opportunity to support RMT’s in providing quality care that continues to improve the health of all those whom the profession serves.
The RMTAO exists in order to advance the massage therapy profession in Ontario. Improvements in the ability of Registered Massage Therapists to provide quality care will improve the health of the people of Ontario whom the profession serves.
