Recordkeeping for RMTs - Encore

This webinar will provide an overview of the recordkeeping requirements for registered massage therapists in Ontario, including legal requirements and standards established by the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario. The webinar will outline the various types of records to be maintained, the responsibility of health information custodians regarding client records, and some common examples professional misconduct in relation to recordkeeping.

Awareness of legal statutes and CMTO standards relating to recordkeeping
Understanding the role and obligations of health information custodians
Recognition of practices to follow and practices to avoid (in respect of recordkeeping)

Lad Kucis is certified by the Law Society of Ontario as a Specialist in Health Law and provides advice and representation to health sector clients on a wide range of regulatory matters.

A key aspect of Lad’s practice involves assisting all types of regulated health professionals, including RMTs, in proceedings before their regulatory colleges, including registration, complaints, investigations, discipline and reviews/appeals.

Concussion Management and the Evolving Role of RMTs in Concussion Care

Concussions are increasingly recognized as complex, multifaceted injuries that extend far
beyond the initial trauma. Individuals with persistent post-concussion symptoms often present
with overlapping musculoskeletal, vestibular, cervicogenic, autonomic, and nervous system
dysfunctions that can significantly impact recovery. Registered Massage Therapists are uniquely
positioned within the rehabilitation team to allow for meaningful patient education, symptom
monitoring, and therapeutic intervention. This webinar explores the evolving role of RMTs in
concussion care, emphasizing safe, evidence-informed assessment and treatment strategies
that remain within massage therapy scope of practice.

Using a format that is both engaging and focused on active learning, Janet addressed key elements of working with people impacted by cancer and the often complex, long-lasting side effects of treatment.

This class creates scenarios to prepare therapists for the real-world implications of working with this population.

You will leave the class with knowledge of:

Cancer treatments and side effects
How to adapt massage to ensure safe treatment
Contraindications and precautions
Intake for medically complex clients
Working with a compromised lymphatic system
Stages of healing and how this impacts treatment of scars and radiation-induced fibrosis
Providing whole person care

Prerequisites for attending

This class is designed for massage therapists with a range of clinical

experience and treatment styles. Students are welcome.
