Are You A Massage Therapy Student?

As a student in a massage therapy program, you are well on your way to becoming part of a unique group of people in the Province of Ontario, a regulated health professional. 

A massage therapy program provides you with the training you need to join a profession that focuses on the needs of the client, in a caring and comprehensive way, while taking into consideration improvements in evidence-informed practice.

As a health professional, it is expected that you will be:

  • Linked into your professional community specifically and into the health care community generally
  • Engaged in a process of continual learning from a variety of sources
  • Not only meet the entry to practice requirements, but maintain those minimum standards and work to exceed them

The Registered Massage Therapists' Association of Ontario is your professional association. We want to ensure that you have access to information about the technical and clinical aspects of massage therapy, as well as about the profession and the association and the world in which massage therapists live and work. 

As a Student Member of the RMTAO, you will

  • Access the professional community through the online discussion forums
  • Access other students in massage therapy programs through a student only discussion board;
  • On-line access to the RMTAO’s professional practice magazine, Massage Therapy Today: Putting Knowledge into Practice;
  • Receive The Friday File, the RMTAO’s weekly digest of news headlines;
  • Have the ability to enrol in any of the optional programs available to active members only by simply paying the enrolment fee;
  • Access to the Careers Section to identify practice opportunities as you near graduation;
    and much more.

The Registered Massage Therapists' Association of Ontario is the voice of the profession in Ontario and we invite all students of massage therapy programs in Ontario to be a part of the profession. Connect to your professional community through RMTAO student membership.

In order to become a student member of the RMTAO, select Create Profile below or speak to your massage therapy program coordinator. For self-sign-up complete the online forms provided and upload a document providing proof of program enrolment.


Are You A Program Coordinator? 

As a new RMTAO membership year begins, the RMTAO aims to revitalize the Student Outreach Program to connect students with our Association and our thriving community of RMTs through student membership. Program Coordinators play a key role in connecting students with the RMTAO and we need your continued support to solidify this student initiative.


1. Student Enrolment via the Program Coordinator

Student registration via the Program Coordinator is a process the RMTAO has implemented in previous membership years. For Program Coordinators wishing to continue with this process, please:

  • Complete the Student Membership Enrolment Form with required information, including expected graduation date.
  • Once completed, please email the form to info@rmtao.com or fax it to 416.979.2010
