As a student in a massage therapy program, you are well on your way to becoming part of a unique group of people in the Province of Ontario, a regulated health professional.

A massage therapy program provides you with the training you need to join a profession that focuses on the needs of the client, in a caring and comprehensive way, while taking into consideration improvements in evidence-informed practice.

As a health professional, it is expected that you will be:

  • Linked into your professional community specifically and into the health care community generally
  • Engaged in a process of continual learning from a variety of sources
  • Not only meet the entry to practice requirements, but maintain those minimum standards and work to exceed them.

The Registered Massage Therapists' Association of Ontario is your professional association.  Through the RMTAO, you can be linked into not only your professional colleagues but also into the health care system itself.

The RMTAO ensures that you have access to information about the technical and clinical aspects of massage therapy, as well as about the profession and the association and the world in which massage therapists live and work.

As a Student Member of the RMTAO, you will

  • Access the professional community through the on-line discussion forums
  • Access other students in massage therapy programs through a student only discussion board;
  • On-line access to the RMTAO’s professional practice magazine, Massage Therapy Today: Putting Knowledge into Practice;
  • Receive The Friday File, the RMTAO’s weekly digest of news headlines;
  • Have the ability to enrol in any of the optional programs available to Active members only by simply paying the enrolment fee;
  • Access to the Careeers Seciton to identify practice opportunities as you near graduation;
    and much more.

The Registered Massage Therapists' Association of Ontario is the voice of the profession in Ontario and we invite all students of massage therapy programs in Ontario to be a part of the profession from the moment you begin your learning process.  Link yourself now into the Professional Community you are working to join in the future.

Free to Join, Here's How

In order to become a student member of the RMTAO, speak to the teaching professionals in your school.  The program coordinator at your school will take your information including name and email address and will submit it to the Association. Once we receive your information, your profile will be created and you will start receiving the Friday File and all other RMTAO membership benefits available to you.
